1st:
Pinch punch first of the month.
Did not water my plants today, all of them were moist when stuck my index finger in their soil.
Temperature peaked at 17 celcius, but it rained a little too. Not sure if balcony gets any rain water though.
Tomato leaves curved towards soil, not sure if it means they are thirsty, they look structurally fine. Underside of tomato leaf sometimes a little purple, which indicates a lack of phosphorus. Apparently common when transplanting and sorts itself out once roots are established. If needed I can add some extra fertiliser.
20th:
Happy Easter!
Last week has been very wet and rainy. Barely needed to water my plants.
Some of my basil plants have been knocked over by the wind. Have re-planted them, hoping that the plant recovers.
My lettuce has much larger (5cm long) leaves and much less leggy stems. I did a first round of thinning a few weeks ago, and today will do a second.
Courgette has a thick and healthy looking stem, as well as very large leaves. Not sure when I should expect development of the fruit, or if I need to fertilise first.
The tomato plants have fungus growing on some of their leaves due to the rain this week. I have pruned the affected leaves. I also staked the most developed tomato plant (~30cm tall) and tied the stem to the stake to help it grow straight.
29th:
I added a cap of fertiliser to a bucket of water today and used it on all my plants.
Courgette has its first yellow flower appearing, but it is not open yet.
Basil is looking generally much thicker!
Last week the heat has turned up a notch (23 celcius)
